Building a Sustainable Seafood Sector Through Collaboration

BCB in collaboration with IBioIC, Opportunity North East, Seafood Scotland, University of Stirling, and Zero Waste Scotland.

It has been estimated that 190,000 tonnes of fish and shellfish by-products are generated across Scotland each year (Zero Waste Scotland, 2015). This material represents significant opportunities to create value from waste, boost the bottom line of the Scottish seafood sector and address environmental concerns. Collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential if we are to develop innovative routes to make the most this important resource.

The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), Opportunity North East, Seafood Scotland, University of Stirling and Zero Waste Scotland are hosting this dedicated meeting to bring together key stakeholders from the seafood, biotechnology and waste valorisation communities.
